Specialized Care for Difficult Infections

Infectious Diseases focuses on managing infections. Our physicians and staff work with you and your primary care physician to address infections that are difficult to diagnose, that don’t respond to treatment or that are accompanied by a high fever. We have extensive experience in diagnosing and treating infectious diseases and helping to prevent their spread.

We treat a variety of infections

Bacteria, viruses, fungi and parasites can all cause infections. Most of the time, your primary care physician can treat the infection. In some cases, however, your physician may refer you to a specialist. We help your physician address:

  • Bloodstream and heart valve infections (e.g., endocarditis)
  • Bone and joint infections (e.g., osteomyelitis)
  • Brain and spine infections (e.g. encephalitis)
  • Hepatitis
  • Kidney and urinary tract infections
  • Lung infections
  • Lyme disease
  • MRSA
  • Skin and soft tissue infections
  • Travel-related diseases
  • West Nile virus
  • Wound infections

About our providers

Our practice pioneered infectious disease management in Lancaster County, and we have served the region since 1981. All of our physicians are board-certified in both internal medicine and infectious diseases. They maintain the high quality standards you have come to associate with Lancaster General Health.

What to expect when you visit

Your initial visit includes a medical evaluation, which may include diagnostic tests. Blood tests may be conducted near our offices in the Suburban Pavilion. We will also review results of tests that your physician may have ordered. Based on your diagnosis, we may prescribe oral or intravenous (IV) antibiotics.

In the case of hepatitis, HIV/AIDS or other chronic infections, we will work with you to create a long-term management plan to help minimize the impact of the disease.

It’s easy to find us

We accept new patients by physician referral. Your physician’s office will make the appointment for you. We are conveniently located in the Suburban Pavilion.
