Comprehensive Neuropsychological and Behavioral Medicine Services

At LG Health Physicians Neuropsychology, we focus on behavioral medicine and neuropsychology. Our senior staff has more than 30 years of experience in evaluating and treating patients with a wide range of brain dysfunctions. As the only practice of our kind in the area that is affiliated with a medical hospital, we offer our patients access to all the facilities and services of Lancaster General Health.

Behavioral medicine to manage pain and more

Our behavioral medicine program focuses on the diagnosis, prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of chronic medical conditions. Through the application of cognitive-behavioral therapy principles, we help patients reduce stress, manage pain, comply with health management recommendations and implement lifestyle changes important to their medical condition and general health and well-being. Individuals with medical conditions complicated by stress or undesirable, unhealthy lifestyle behaviors such as overeating, are a primary focus. Biofeedback, relaxation training and cognitive behavior therapy are important modalities. Pain management, insomnia and mindfulness based stress reduction are areas of focus. We work closely with the LG Health Fibromyalgia, Healthy Weight Management and Bariatric Surgery programs.

Neuropsychology focuses on the brain and behavior

Neuropsychological assessment is designed to help us understand how a disease or injury affects your brain function. With two board-certified neuropsychologists as part of our staff, we address the impact of brain disorders on behavior and mental functions such as language, memory and perception. We evaluate, diagnose, treat and rehabilitate patients with neurological, medical, developmental or psychiatric conditions.  Neuropsychological services may be requested to help your doctors and other professionals understand how different areas and systems of the brain are working. Individuals with various medical or neurological conditions frequently referred for evaluation include those with:

  • Alzheimer’s disease or other dementia
  • Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD)
  • Brain tumor
  • Cerebral palsy
  • Chronic substance abuse
  • Concussion/traumatic brain injury
  • Downs syndrome
  • Epilepsy and other seizure disorders
  • Learning disabilities
  • Multiple sclerosis
  • Parkinson’s disease
  • Stroke
  • Toxic chemical exposure

Dr. Jon Bentz addresses neuropsychology topics—including lifestyle changes to prevent stroke—in his blog. A number of our physicians are also a part of the Alzheimer’s & Memory Care practice.
