Madonna L. Talbert, M.D.

Madonna L. Talbert, M.D., died July 15, after a six-year battle with breast cancer.
Dr. Talbert, 63, practiced obstetrics and gynecology locally for more than 30 years, most recently at Ephrata Community Hospital OB-GYN. She served as Vice Chair of the LG Health Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology from 2000 to 2006.
Dr. Charles “Tony” Castle recalled that Dr. Talbert routinely spent longer than the prescribed 15 minutes with patients and reached out to them after-hours, earning her a loyal following. She also was a strong advocate for nurse-midwives.
“Madonna was a very precise and detail-oriented individual, which are wonderful attributes in medicine,” Dr. Castle said. “She was also very warm and empathetic, taking an active interest in her patients. They were extremely devoted to her.”
A mother of two and active member of Lancaster Church of the Nazarene, Dr. Talbert enjoyed family history, gardening, flowers, music and her cats.
