Access to library resources: In early January, the library will implement OpenAthens, a login-based method of accessing Health Sciences Library resources. This new login procedure will enable the library to offer LG Health/Penn Medicine employees greater access to its licensed resources and eliminate the need for a Citrix account to access resources from outside the LG Health/Penn Medicine network. The January edition of the e-Pulse will have detailed account creation and login instructions, and additional information will be available on the Library homepage and on StarNet.
Change in hours: Please note that the Health Sciences Library will be closed Friday, Dec. 23, through Monday, Jan. 2. Article requests and literature search requests may be submitted during this time, but they will not be processed until Tuesday, Jan. 3, unless they are required for urgent patient care. Our electronic resources are available remotely through Citrix.
Featured resource: TOXNET is a group of databases covering chemicals and drugs; diseases and the environment; environmental health; occupational safety and health; poisoning; risk assessment and regulations; and toxicology. Included in this search are databases like LactMed, a database on drugs and chemicals related to breastfeeding mothers, and Household Products Databases, which search the health effects of household products. This resource is provided by the National Library of Medicine.
