From Jan Bergen, President & CEO of Lancaster General Health
Fall is an exciting time at LG Health. The beginning of a new fiscal year is a natural time to reflect on our recent successes, while looking ahead at our goals for the new year.
LG Health recently announced our system-wide goals for the new fiscal year. Each goal aligns with one of our five dimensions of performance: Finance, Quality, Experience, People and Access.
Finance: Achieve operating margin. We will continue our work to reduce costs and pursue new strategies to increase revenue. A healthy operating margin is critical to accomplishing all of our goals.
Quality: Reduce seven- and 30-day readmission rates. Lower readmission rates reflect a higher quality of care and better patient outcomes. Success in this area leads to increased reimbursement and a lower cost of care, while also reducing the burden on caregivers.
Experience: Improve our patients’ likelihood to recommend LG Health to others. Delivering extraordinary care and service sets LG Health apart. A positive experience makes patients more likely to return for future care and recommend us to their family, friends and neighbors.
People: Engage all staff and leaders in continuous improvement activities. By harnessing the power of ideas and creating a culture of continuous improvement, we will consistently and reliably deliver an optimal experience to all of our patients – and find more joy in our own work.
Access: Reduce the number of Emergency Department patients who leave without being seen and grow ambulatory distinct patient lives. We will work to enhance access to our care, enabling more people in our community to live healthier lives, along with the continued growth of our health system.
Each of these goals for the new fiscal year is essential to LG Health’s future success. Our goals are ambitious, but with the support of our extraordinary Medical & Dental Staff, I am confident we will achieve them.
