As I write this month’s column, Doctors’ Day banners and posters are hanging all around the hospital. It was gratifying to see the wonderfully creative ways teams throughout LG Health honored the contributions of their physician colleagues.
Check out our Doctors’ Day photo gallery to see some of the highlights from this annual day of celebration.
As physicians, we give all of our knowledge, skills and compassion to our patients every day. It can be challenging and sometimes exhausting work. We can’t underestimate the importance of regularly “unplugging” from the stresses and challenges of our (often-long) days.
This month, we’ll introduce you to two of our colleagues who pursue rewarding hobbies during their off-hours. Dr. Jason Scott, a hospitalist, has coached more than 60 youth baseball, basketball and football teams – and counting. And family physician Dr. Allene Gagliano has discovered a passion for rescuing dogs, currently sharing her home with four faithful spaniels.
Both Dr. Scott and Dr. Gagliano know the value of finding time to pursue something you love outside of medicine, even on the busiest of days. I highly recommend it.
Thank you for all you do every day to provide top-notch care to our patients, while also supporting and encouraging each other. Enjoy the April issue of Progress Notes!
