Reproductive endocrinology and infertility specialist Vasiliki Moragianni, MD, MS, FACOG, leads the team at Penn Fertility Care - Lancaster General Health.
“The strong bonds I build with my patients during very intimate and sensitive times in their lives—that’s what I love most about my work,” says Dr. Moragianni.
We asked Dr. Moragianni to share some a bit about her personal interests and passions. Here’s what she said….
Where did you grow up?
I was born and raised in Athens, Greece. I moved to the U.S. for college when I was 17.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
I love dancing! Before COVID, I was doing Greek folk as well as ballroom dancing. But since COVID, my family and I have been exploring the outdoors and spending more time together which I love!
What is your favorite book?
I have a very long commute every day so I get to listen to a lot of audio books. A couple that stuck with me are “The Nightingale,” “The Song of Achilles,” and “The Extraordinary Life of Sam Hell.”
If you could choose to do anything for a day, what would it be?
I would be magically transported to a beach in Greece with my family.
What would you sing at karaoke night?
Some upbeat song from the ‘80s.
What is the best gift you have been given?
The gift of a loving, healthy family. There is nothing more important in my life than that!
Do you have any pet peeves?
Everything happens for a reason. As time goes on I realize that everything eventually falls into place. I always try my very best, but also try to accept the outcome, even if its purpose doesn’t seem obvious to me at the time. It always does eventually.
What's your favorite family recipe?
It is for traditional Greek Christmas cookies, called kourabiedes. I use my mom’s recipe and they always come out delicious!
Do you love or hate rollercoasters?
I am petrified of rollercoasters. I have a fear of heights and would never get on one.
What was your favorite subject in school?
I was a nerd and did really well in all subjects. But I really enjoyed math and Greek literature, as well as French.
What do you do to keep fit?
Not much, unfortunately. Since COVID I have picked up biking, but I cheat because I have an electric bike. I also run or hike sometimes.
Do you speak any languages other than English?
I am a native Greek speaker. I also used to be fluent in French and conversational in Italian, but I haven’t practiced either in a long time so who knows…
