The South Central PA Opioid Awareness Coalition will host a community awareness and education event at 8 a.m. Friday, Sept. 15 at The Central Hotel and Conference Center in Harrisburg.
This event will focus on how the community of health care providers and pharmacists are working together to reduce deaths from opioids and heroin.
This event is open to first responders, schools, health service providers, social service agencies, and employers.
“We are excited and encouraged by the depth of collaboration by all hospitals and health systems in south central Pennsylvania,” said Robert Shipp, RN vice president, population health strategies, The Hospital and Healthsystem Association of Pennsylvania. “Opioid addiction affects all sectors of society and does not discriminate. When communities work together, we become stronger in the process and connect in ways that will protect health and promote well-being for all.”
The event agenda is as follows:

  • 7:30 a.m. Registration and breakfast

  • 8 a.m. Presentations begin
