May is National Bike Month and Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health is making it easier for people in our community to give it a try. LG Health sponsors one of six docking stations in the City of Lancaster’s new bike sharing program, Bike it Lancaster.
LG Health’s station is at Rotary Park (200 Harrisburg Pike), across from The Heart Group of LG Health—a fitting location, given the many health benefits of riding a bike. The health system’s sponsorship of the program is one of many ways LG Health is working to reduce obesity in the community and promote an active lifestyle.

The bike share is open to anyone who downloads the Zagster app on a smartphone. The app provides a code to unlock one of 30 bikes parked at stations around Lancaster. Rides cost just $2.50 an hour, up to $25 a ride. An annual membership is only $25, which includes free rides for all trips under two hours.
Biking is also an environmentally friendly, cost-effective way to commute to work. National Bike to Work Week will be held this year from May 14–18. To give the bike share a spin or to learn more, visit
