The Lancaster County community has a long history of working together to address childhood maltreatment and trauma. In 2017, Let’s Talk, Lancaster funded Trauma 101 community trainings to raise awareness related to the impact of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs).
As part of this initiative, a two-day conference was held to advance awareness and build knowledge of how trauma affects the community. The summit was sponsored by 2017 PA Hurricane Supplemental Emergency Response Grant in collaboration with Lakeside Global Institute and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Office of the Attorney General.
Nearly 250 people from across the community attended the two-day workshop on Sept. 26 and 27. The conference hosted educational sessions that included topics such as understanding trauma, resilience and the principles of trauma informed care, Cultural Sensitivity and the Neuroscience of Trauma.
Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health Behavioral Health Community Impact Fund, WellSpan Philhaven and Lancaster Osteopathic Health Foundation were the local sponsors.
