Our surgeons use the latest techniques for removal of malignant breast tumors, in order to achieve faster healing, better outcomes, and shorter, easier follow-up therapy.

We’ll answer your questions and help you make an informed decision about any necessary surgical treatment.

Mastectomy and Other Breast Surgeries

Our experienced breast surgeons will remove as much of the cancer as possible, along with some of the healthy tissue surrounding the tumor to ensure clean margins. Surgery is often combined with other treatments, such as chemotherapy and/or radiation. Our breast surgeons perform:

  • Lumpectomy—removal of the lump and a rim of normal tissue
  • Partial mastectomy—removal of part of the breast
  • Simple mastectomy (total mastectomy)—removal of the entire breast
  • Modified radical mastectomy—removal of the breast and some underarm lymph nodes
  • Axillary dissection—removal of the underarm lymph nodes
  • Oncoplastic surgery—for patients requiring substantial tissue removal, helps maintain natural-looking breast contours

Breast Reconstruction

Breast reconstruction can improve your quality of life by restoring a sense of self and body image. We provide our patients access to experienced plastic surgeons skilled in the most advanced breast reconstruction options available today.

Oncoplastic surgery is offered when the tumor is small relative to the size of the breast. For women with larger tumors, or those who require mastectomy, our surgeons offer a variety of reconstructive options based on the patient’s preference and health status. These include:

  • Breast reconstruction using implants
  • Autologous breast reconstruction, using the patient’s own tissues

Breast reconstruction may be performed during or after cancer surgery. You and your plastic surgeon will determine whether immediate or delayed reconstruction is the right option for you, along with the best type of surgery to help achieve the outcome you desire.
