The Lancaster General Health Experience
How to prepare for and what to expect during laser skin resurfacing
Over a 60-day timeframe, your cosmetic surgeon will personalize your facial rejuvenation laser treatments, all focused on creating a tightened, toned and soft look. We use a combination of three laser technologies:
- Pixel laser: stimulates new collagen to grow by creating thousands of microscopic perforations
- Alma laser: firms up loose skin through deep heating
- Intense pulsed light: evens out skin color and reduces tiny broken blood vessels
By using lasers to an extremely accurate depth, our laser specialists target problem areas like fine lines around the mouth and eyes to give you the best possible results. Your surgeon uses an invisible carbon dioxide laser light during the resurfacing procedures. This quickly evaporates water in your skin, removing top layer and tightening lower skin layers and resulting in less bruising and scarring than other resurfacing procedures.
As you prepare for your treatments, your surgeon will prescribe antibiotics, glycolic acid and other discuss special skin care instructions with you. People with herpes may be prescribed an antiviral medication to prevent a breakout.
While laser treatments require some preparation, you will need little recovery time. Most people return to daily activities immediately after a treatment session. In some cases, people experience tender, pink or swollen skin for a few days that can be managed with cold packs and medication. You may be advised to avoid the sun or use sunblock.
Facial rejuvenation cost
Facial rejuvenation costs vary depending on your treatment goals and other services you may also undergo. During your consultation, we will discuss the cost of your facial rejuvenation procedure.
Laser skin care risks
Laser treatments are safe, effective and comfortable. They require no injections, surgery, and the rejuvenation treatment has no downtime.
Laser skin treatment risk include:
- Burns from the laser’s heat
- Skin pigmentation changes
- Herpes breakout, if you’re susceptible to infection
You can avoid most risks and complications by carefully following your surgeon’s instructions.
Resurfacing treatment recovery is more involved than recovery from rejuvenation treatment. Following your procedure, your surgeon will cover your treatment area with a dressing. You will need to arrange for a ride home. You will likely experience swelling, skin redness, and discomfort for 7 to 10 days. Your surgeon will recommend a special skin care regimen to help the healing process.
