“As long as I can remember, I always wanted to become a physician,” says Dr. David Warsaw. And after working as a research assistant in the cardiac surgery department at the University of Pennsylvania, he set his sights on a career as a cardiac surgeon.
His rotation in plastic surgery during medical school, however, changed everything.
“I was amazed at the variety of procedures plastic surgeons perform and the difference plastic surgery can make in a person’s life,” recalls Dr. Warsaw. “And it’s a rare specialty that offers physicians the opportunity to work on all parts of the body.”
Dr. Warsaw enjoys all aspects of plastic surgery—both cosmetic and reconstructive. He has a special interest in body contouring, melanoma and non- or minimally-invasive cosmetic procedures.
“It’s very satisfying to see how cosmetic surgery can boost a patient’s self-confidence and make them feel better overall,” he says.
The Penn Medicine Connection
Dr. Warsaw appreciates being part of Penn Medicine and the opportunities that offers to provide patients with excellent care.
“I have the privilege of working with a very talented group of plastic surgeons, both in Lancaster and Philadelphia, who meet regularly to discuss complicated cases and determine what is best for our patients,” he says.
In his free time, Dr. Warsaw enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, and collecting antiques.
