Cushing's disease

Cushing's disease

Cushing's disease is a type of Cushing's syndrome that's caused by a tumor in the pituitary gland. This type of tumor usually isn't cancer. The tumor makes too much of a hormone called ACTH, which causes the adrenal gland to make too much cortisol. This can cause weight gain and other symptoms. It can also lead to serious problems such as diabetes, high blood pressure, depression, and osteoporosis.
