Instructions
This medicine is given as an injection into the eye.
This medicine should be given by a trained health care provider.
You must be monitored by a health care professional during and after each dose is given.
Follow your doctor's instructions about how long to remain lying down after leaving the hospital/clinic.
If you miss a dose, contact your doctor for instructions.
Drug interactions can change how medicines work or increase risk for side effects. Tell your health care providers about all medicines taken. Include prescription and over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal medicines. Speak with your doctor or pharmacist before starting or stopping any medicine.
Tell your doctor if symptoms do not get better or if they get worse.
Your doctor may prescribe other medications to reduce side effects. Follow instructions carefully.
Small amounts of virus may shed from your tears or nose for up to 7 days after the injection. Ask the doctor how to handle and dispose of waste materials (such as dressings) for up to 7 days after the injection.
Keep all appointments for medical exams and tests while on this medicine.
Cautions
During pregnancy, this medicine should be used only when clearly needed. Talk to your doctor about the risks and benefits.
Tell your doctor and pharmacist if you ever had an allergic reaction to a medicine.
Some people have experienced serious eye infections or other eye problems while using this medicine. Contact your doctor right away if you experience eye pain, redness, severe headache, or any changes to your vision.
During your procedure, an air bubble will form in your eye. This will slowly shrink over time. Do not fly in an airplane, travel to high altitudes, or scuba dive until you are told the air bubble is gone. A change in altitude while the air bubble is in your eye may cause permanent vision loss.
Your ability to stay alert or to react quickly may be impaired by this medicine. Do not drive or operate machinery until you know how this medicine will affect you.
It is unknown if this medicine passes into breast milk. Ask your doctor before breastfeeding.
Side Effects
The following is a list of some common side effects from this medicine. Please speak with your doctor about what you should do if you experience these or other side effects.
Call your doctor or get medical help right away if you notice any of these more serious side effects:
- blurry vision
- pain in the eye
- blurry shapes that seem to float in front of your eyes
- seeing flashes or halos around lights
- sudden change or loss of vision
A few people may have an allergic reaction to this medicine. Symptoms can include difficulty breathing, skin rash, itching, swelling, or severe dizziness. If you notice any of these symptoms, seek medical help quickly.
