Lancaster General Hospital was designated as a Magnet organization in 2002, 2006, 2011 and 2016 by the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program. This designation recognizes excellence in nursing services and is the highest international recognition of its kind.
Magnet designation symbolizes nursing excellence. ANCC uses a multifaceted evaluation system to assess for Magnet excellence. The evaluation process includes demographic information and in-depth documentation which reflects how applicants meet all program requirements at the organizational level.
Three surveyors, selected by ANCC, will be virtually visiting LGH Jan. 19 to 22, 2021. The survey will consist of meetings with nursing and non-nursing staff, Medical Staff and LGH leadership.
