As part of our longtime strategic mission, Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health is committed to delivering advanced medicine services to benefit everyone in our community.
LG Health offers care that is nationally recognized for quality and safety by such prestigious organizations as U.S. News & World Report and Healthgrades, provided by a talented, compassionate team our community knows and trusts. Our ability to provide this care close to home enhances both convenience and peace of mind for our patients and their families, often in the most difficult times of their lives.
Innovative Approaches to Care
Since our founding in 1893 by a visionary group of community leaders, LG Health has always employed innovative approaches to caring for our community. These approaches range from establishing one of the first family medicine residency programs in the country more than 50 years ago to performing Lancaster County’s first open-heart surgery in 1983.
Our commitment to advanced medicine is part of LG Health’s ongoing efforts to advance the health and well-being of the communities we serve in meaningful ways. We continually take that commitment to the next level. In recent years, thanks to the tremendous efforts of our entire team, we have brought countless medical advances to our community, from our Level 1 trauma center and world-class cancer care to the county’s only adolescent inpatient behavioral health unit.
Even Stronger as Part of Penn Medicine
Joining Penn Medicine in 2015 made us even stronger by giving our community direct access to such revolutionary medical advances as mRNA vaccines to fight COVID-19 and CAR T-cell immunotherapy treatments for cancer. Now we are months away from opening only the second proton therapy center in Pennsylvania, right here in Lancaster.
We are proud to celebrate our advanced medicine services combined with our legacy of service to our patients and community.
I like to think of our advanced medicine services as a "lighthouse," or a beacon on the horizon that draws people to LG Health. Once our patients get to know us and experience our compassionate approach to care, they will return for the comprehensive medical services we offer to everyone in our community.
I am so grateful for the opportunity to lead this innovative health system. We have many reasons to be excited about the future as we continue our 129-year commitment to leading the way by bringing medical advances to our community.
