Services and Treatments
Sports Physicals: We offer pre-participation for athletes of all ages.
Sports Concussion Assessment and Management: We use a variety of protocols, including ImPACT (Immediate Post-Concussion Assessment and Cognitive Testing), to determine whether injured athletes are ready to return to play. ImPACT is a computerized testing tool that provides objective information for assessing recovery following concussion, managing post-concussion symptoms, and determining readiness to return to sports participation, school and work. The ImPACT test measures symptoms, memory, processing speed, reaction time and other factors. We can use pre-play ImPACT testing to establish a baseline for athletes involved in high-risk, high-impact sports.
Sports-Related Surgery: Our orthopaedic surgery team provides surgical services for ligament, joint, and bone injuries such as ACL repair, rotator cuff, and more.
Tenex Health TX® Technology: This advanced, minimally invasive procedure is used to treat chronic tendon pain. Using ultrasound imaging and requiring only a micro incision, damaged tissue is located, broken down, and safely removed.
Nerve Block and Ultrasound-Guided Injections: These procedures address muscle and joint pain.
Nutritional Consults: Our consults help assure your diet is appropriately supporting your athletic endeavors and offer assistance with decisions regarding supplements.
AlterG Anti-Gravity Treadmill: Our physicians have access to the AlterG Anti-Gravity Treadmill—innovative technology that helps athletes rehab without bearing their full weight, reducing the strain and impact on recovering joints, bones, or muscles. Available at the Suburban Pavilion.
Dry Needling: Dry Needling (DN), also known as intramuscular Manual Therapy (IMT) and Trigger Point Dry Needling (TDN), is a procedure that involves inserting threadlike needles (not containing medication) through the skin to help relieve muscle pain. This is not acupuncture. DN relaxes muscle spasms by deactivating trigger points in muscles and the connective tissue that surrounds them. Patients typically report immediate pain relief that can last anywhere from a few hours to a few weeks, allowing normal muscle function to be restored.
It is not uncommon for the treatment to produce soreness that could last several days. However, the relief experienced often far outweighs any discomfort.
Conditions that benefit from dry needling include:
- Low back and neck pain, including radiculopathy
- Shoulder and arm pain, tendonitis, carpal tunnel syndrome, impingement
- Hip and leg pain, sciatica, muscle strain, calf-tightness/spasm
- Foot and ankle sprain, Achilles tendonitis, plantar fasciitis
- Headache, face and jaw pain
- Fibromyalgia
PRP Therapy: PRP therapy, an advanced, non-surgical technique, uses platelets in your own blood to treat acute, chronic or long-term pain resulting from osteoarthritis, tendon, ligament, or cartilage injuries. You may be an ideal candidate for PRP if you are between the ages of 18 and 65 and have pain from mild osteoarthritis or a soft tissue injury.
Areas treated include:
-
Ankle/heel (Achilles tendon)
-
Elbow (tennis elbow/tendonitis)
-
Hip (sacroiliac joint inflammation; osteoarthritis)
-
Knee (jumper’s knee/inflammation of the patellar tendon; osteoarthritis)
-
Shoulder (rotator cuff injury; osteoarthritis)
Athletic Trainer Services: We provide athletic trainer services for a number of local schools, organizations, and sporting events.
KneeKG: KneeKG is a device that enables doctors to view your knees in 3-D while you are moving and bearing weight, identifying the causes of knee pain more accurately than an X-ray or MRI. This dynamic visual helps to identify causes more quickly, while improving your quality of life and pain issues.
During a 30 minute office visit, you will walk on a treadmill while the device is painlessly placed around your knee. Afterward, our Physical Therapists will work together to interpret the results and determine a therapy plan customized for you.
KneeKG can help to diagnose:
- Osteoarthritis
- Ligament injuries
- Instabilities
- Anterior knee pain
- Knee injuries
Ask your primary care provider if a KneeKG is right for you.
