Lancaster P.E.T. Imaging

Lancaster P.E.T. Imaging has offered PET scans to patients in central Pennsylvania since 2001. It is a joint venture of Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health and Lancaster Radiology Associates.

What is a PET/CT Scan?

A PET/CT scan combines both computed tomography (CT) and positron emission tomography (PET) into one machine. A PET/CT scan shows information about both the structure and function of cells and tissues in the body in the duration of a single imaging session.

It is a highly sensitive imaging tool for detecting metabolic activity in cells.

It is useful for:

Detecting lung cancer, melanoma, Hodgkin’s lymphoma, and other cancers
Early identification of neurological disorders such as Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s and dementia
Differentiating between benign and malignant lesions
Monitoring tumor location, size and metabolic activity
Guiding treatment selection and delivery
Assessing the effectiveness of a treatment plan, such as cancer therapy
