A research fellowship is designed to be a longer term research experience where individuals are looking for a “gap year” post-baccalaureate research experience prior to medical or graduate school. Fellows perform a multitude of tasks including research study conceptualization and design, data collection, data entry and statistical analysis at a depth and duration greater than a typical summer internship. The fellowship also provides opportunities to help author scholarly papers, posters and presentations.
In addition to providing research work experience, we strongly encourage our fellows to shadow physicians in specialties of their choice. Overall, it is our goal to provide general research experiences that will provide an understanding of how research is executed in a hospital/health care setting, and provide a research foundation that will be helpful in future studies and careers.
