We provide care for both non-cancerous blood disorders and blood cancers. Non-cancerous blood disorders might include anemia, hemophilia and blood-clotting disorders. Blood cancers might include leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma.
Our dedicated team of hematologists diagnose and treat all types of blood disorders.
Hematology focuses on diseases of the blood, especially cancers. Some of the tests we use include:
Many cancers, including blood cancers, are treated with chemotherapy—medications that target cancer cells and prevent them from growing or dividing. Many of these drugs reach all parts of the body, not just the cancer cells. We work closely with Lancaster General Health surgeons and radiation oncologists to develop an individualized treatment plan.
Depending on the type of treatment you need, therapy may be administered in the new state-of-the-art Oncology Infusion Center located at the Ann B. Barshinger Cancer Institute. The setting is staffed by chemotherapy-certified nurses who deliver expert care in a warm and supportive environment.
Your doctor may order laboratory blood tests or a bone marrow biopsy to help diagnose and manage cancers and other disorders of the blood.
We provide comprehensive care for patients diagnosed with non-cancerous blood disorders and blood cancers including leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma.
No matter what kind of cancer you are facing, we will help guide you through your journey, providing the best possible information, care and support.
Our support services include a wide range of programs, education and events to help cancer patients and their loved ones.
