Stroke, Mechanical Thrombectomy

Terry's Story

Retired Manor Township Police Officer Terry Longacre had no idea he was having a stroke. Fortunately, his wife recognized the symptoms of stroke and took action FAST.

At Lancaster General Hospital, Terry received an advanced procedure called mechanical thrombectomy that allows specially trained doctors to remove large blood clots from the brain.

Without the procedure, Terry would be a different man, according to Dr. Ram Chavali, who performed the procedure. He wouldn’t be able to express himself or even understand what others were saying.

"There are two people who are the reason I'm here," Terry told Fox 43  "The doctor and my wife, who is smart enough to see I was having a stroke."
