Lancaster General Health is proud to partner with the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation, Lancaster-Lebanon IU 13, and the Lancaster County Office of Behavioral Health/Developmental Services in Project SEARCH, a workplace immersion program for students with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The goal of the program is to help student graduates secure competitive employment.
Referred to the program through their school districts, students in their last year of high school attend class onsite at our downtown Lancaster location and participate in three unpaid worksite internships.
Worksite internships are the foundation of the Project SEARCH program. Students have been immersed in 25 departments at LG Health, including the Emergency Department, Food Services, Housekeeping, Laboratory, Sterile Processing, Patient Transport, Laundry, and hospital units.
Our Volunteer Services Department manages Project SEARCH. LG Health managers/supervisors interested in hosting an intern, please contact Volunteer Services at 717-544-5005 for more details.
