We provide gynecologic care and oncology treatments for patients with ovarian, uterine, cervical and vulvar/vaginal cancers and genetic testing and counseling for high-risk patients.

Our team at Lancaster General Health Physicians Hematology & Medical Oncology provides comprehensive care to patients with precancerous conditions and cancers of the female reproductive organs. We diagnose and manage a wide variety of conditions, from abnormal Pap smears and abdominal masses to pelvic inflammatory disease and cancer.

Comprehensive Care

As part of the Ann B. Barshinger Cancer Institute, our physicians offer all forms of cancer therapy, including chemotherapy and other medical therapiesradiation therapy, and surgery.

As part of Penn Medicine, we also provide patients access to the most recent clinical trials and genetic testing programs close to home, as well as referrals to the Abramson Cancer Center, when appropriate.

Leading-edge Techniques

From biopsies to complex gynecologic surgeries, we offer the latest surgical techniques that offer advantages like faster healing, better outcomes, and shorter follow-up therapy. We perform colposcopy, loop electrosurgical excision procedure (LEEP) and other advanced biopsy techniques, as well as minimally invasive surgeries, including use of the da Vinci® robotic system.

Surgery may be recommended to remove fibroids, pre-cancerous tumors or early-stage cancerous tumors, or to reduce the size of advanced tumors—a process called debulking or cytoreduction.

Outpatient, or same-day, surgeries are performed at Lancaster General Hospital, Women & Babies Hospital and the Suburban Pavilion. If your surgery requires a hospital stay, we perform inpatient surgery at Lancaster General Hospital and Women & Babies Hospital.

Supportive Care

We collaborate with our colleagues at the Cancer Institute to develop an individualized plan of care for each patient. You will have access to nurse navigators, social workers, nutritionists and chaplain services to support you throughout your journey.

Our team has a lot of experience treating gynecologic cancers and other reproductive disorders, and we understand the emotional needs of our patients who are facing a diagnosis and treatment. We are committed to providing care that is compassionate and supportive, and to answering all of your questions to help you make the best decisions regarding your care.
