When to See a Fertility Specialist

Many couples have questions about when to see a fertility specialist. We recommend that women under age 35 who have not conceived after a year of unprotected sex, or women 35 and older who have not conceived after six months of unprotected sex, talk to a member of our fertility care team.

Here's how to get started:

1. Schedule Your First Fertility Appointment

Begin your journey by scheduling an in-person or virtual consultation with an experienced fertility specialist. Call 717-544-0107 or contact us to get started.

After you schedule your appointment, your financial advocate will contact you to review your insurance and let you know if your fertility consultation is covered by your plan. We'll make sure you fully understand your out-of-pocket costs before you arrive for your appointment.

Please bring the following items to your appointment:

  • Insurance card and ID
  • List of current medications, vitamins and supplements
  • Medical records
  • Notes about your reproductive history
  • Questions for your fertility specialist

2. What to Expect at Your Fertility Consultation

Plan to meet with your fertility specialist for about 60 minutes. We'll ask you about your medical, reproductive and sexual history. Your first appointment is also your time to ask questions about infertility testing and treatment. In most cases, we wait until your second appointment to perform infertility testing such as blood tests and imaging exams.

Be sure to tell your fertility specialist if you have:

  • A family history of infertility or genetic disorders
  • A history of missed or abnormal periods
  • Any pre-existing health conditions such as STIs, diabetes or thyroid disease
  • Been trying to get pregnant for more than one year
  • Had any medical treatments or surgeries in the past
  • Had any previous miscarriages or live births
  • Tried assisted reproduction, such as IUI or IVF

3. Build Your Personalized Fertility Plan

Together, we'll build a care plan that optimizes your chances for a successful pregnancy. Our clinic offers a wide range of fertility treatments and services for your unique needs and situation, including:
