Becoming a mother is an amazing journey, and one that you don’t need to go on alone. At Lancaster General Health, we provide a range of free programs that offer help for income-eligible pregnant women. You receive individualized care from experienced providers focused on helping you and your baby have a happy, healthy start together.
Healthy Beginnings Plus
Healthy Beginnings Plus (HBP) is a program that offers prenatal and postpartum support to complement your prenatal care. We can help you connect with the prenatal provider of your choice, and you'll have access to a doctor or midwife, nurse, social worker, registered dietitian, and lactation consultant. Throughout your pregnancy and after your baby is born, your Healthy Beginnings Plus team will provide in-home visits for community connections, nursing assistance, breastfeeding education, support groups and more.
Nurse-Family Partnership
Our Nurse-Family Partnership program is designed to cater to the unique needs of first-time mothers. During your pregnancy and until your baby turns 2 years old, your nurse will visit you regularly at your home or another location that is convenient for you. We provide health checks, childbirth education, and guidance on early childhood development. Your nurse will also connect you with community assistance for pregnant mothers, such as housing, transportation, and nutrition, to help you achieve your personal goals and become the best mom you can be.
Family Planning
It's never too early or too late to plan for your future. Whether you're not sure if you want to have children or your family is complete, our family planning clinic offers free or low-cost women's health care at every stage of life. We offer comprehensive services, including contraceptives, pregnancy testing, preventive gynecologic care, and sexual health counseling, to help keep you well.
For Health-care Professionals
We accept and encourage self-referrals to any of our programs for pregnant mothers, but we also need healthcare providers to help us connect income-eligible women to these vital services. OB/GYNs, primary care doctors, and other providers at Lancaster General Health can refer directly and easily through Epic, or call 717-544-4305.
